If your computer flashes the ‘blue screen of death’, it definitely needs a computer registry cleaner. On the other hand, if your favorite Xbox flashes the ‘red ring of death’, it certainly necessitates some Xbox repairs.

The major problem that causes your Xbox to freeze and hang is due to overheat. When you play nonstop for hours, you’ll surely encounter the red ring of death with a continuous flashing of red lights. Overheat surfaces the moment the console is no longer able to function well and this might have caused a major break down in your Xbox.

What you need to do is to primarily identify if your Xbox is still under warranty. If it is, then you are in luck, but if it doesn’t fall on the warranty period, you need to have it repaired. Nonetheless, if you want to repair your Xbox yourself then you’ll need some helpful guides to facilitate you in the whole process of repairing your Xbox.

Some of the best guides you can rely on are the 3RedLightFix.com; this is an instructional video which rally rounds in making your Xbox work in no time.

Last year it was estimated that Microsoft would have to spend an amazing 1 Billion Dollars for fixing all the broken Xbox consoles from many thousands of frustrated users worldwide. All the trouble because of some serious mistakes being made in the planning stage of the Xbox console…

The so called Red Ring of Death, also referred to as a “general hardware failure”, is a problem Xbox users are afraid of the most. It simply means your Xbox is broken and won’t run again until you repair it. Although you’ll get this done in a Microsoft repair center where you have to send your console, you should also know that it will take a lot of time until you get your Xbox back. Usually it takes around 14 days, but I’ve also heard of people waiting for nearly 2 months! Don’t even think about having lost your warranty, then you’d even have to pay for such a repair…

But sometimes the solution to your Xbox problems might be much easier to find than you think it is. Let me tell you about some simple steps that will hopefully restore your Xbox 360 without the hassle of having to repair it:

Check all cable plugs

This may seem like the most logical step in order to make sure what’s wrong with your Xbox. Unfortunately, and for whatever reason, many people don’t think about simply checking those cables first. So my advice, first check all cable plugs before proceeding any further!

Is your Xbox overheated?

In case that all 4 red lights are flashing at your Xbox’s power button, your Xbox simply is overheated. Make sure to turn it off and let it cool down for several minutes, then try again. You should also check if there’s dust somewhere within your console or in the cooling fans. You can use a hair dryer to blow it out, but first let your Xbox cool down (at least if your dryer blows out hot air, as what most of them do).

The “Towel Trick”

The last tip I want to share with you may be a great danger to your Xbox. So please use it only at your own risk because you could potentially damage your Xbox 360! Don’t blame me that I haven’t warned you!

Ok, at first you have to remove all cables from your Xbox besides the power cable that should be left plugged in. Second, put one or two dry towels around your Xbox and make sure to cover all fans and holes. Third, turn your console on and let it run for 15 to 20 minutes in order to overheat it (yes, you heard right). Fourth and last step, unwrap the towels and let your Xbox cool down for about 20 minutes.

If everything went right, your Xbox console should start again without any problems. This is because damaged solder joints, that are usually the main reason for a Xbox to fail, will melt and therefore start to get back their connections to the motherboard. Sounds really scary and, in fact, I personally have never used that trick on my own console, although many people report of having successfully “repaired” their Xboxes.

If all those “first aids” mentioned above fail, it’s usually time to send your Xbox 360 to a Microsoft certified repair center. That takes a lot of time and even money when your warranty’s over. I therefore fix my Xbox by my own whenever it fails (and it has done that quite often unfortunately). I found a nice <video guide> that explains everything, from opening the Xbox case to checking the motherboard, step-by-step and easy to understand. It has helped me in fixing my Xbox several times within about an hour or even less! You can order a copy of the guide for cheap, it’s really worth it!

Hope that I could help you. Happy gaming and may your Xbox never fail!

If you personally own a Xbox just like me, you probably have heard of RRoD, the so called “Red Ring of Death“. Also commonly refered to as “3 Flashing Red Lights“, a RRoD is a typical sign for a general hardware failure on your Xbox.

Such a hardware failure may be caused by many different reasons like cracks in the solder joints, defect coolers or problems with the graphics chip or AC input. Whichever way you look at it, it’ll definitely stop you from using your Xbox until you send it back to a Microsoft repair center for repair.

Typical signs before a complete failure of your Xbox occurs are strange graphical problems, noisy or frozen sound and sometimes messages showing unreadable discs although they should read fine. Most, but not all of these signs often time lead to a RRoD, which simply means time for a repair. According to the Microsoft support you should do that immediately!

More than 10% of all sold Xbox 360 consoles already have been repaired due to those hardware problems. For some reasons something has terribly gone bad while Microsoft released their Xbox system several years ago, over 10% of defect consoles is way too much in my opinion. Although a repair should fall under your console’s warranty, you’d still have to wait up to 15 days before you could use your beloved Xbox again. If your warranty has already expired…well, you’d even have to pay for it on top of that!

You see, the Red Ring of Death is a common in the Xbox world. Many people left stuck with a non-functioning Xbox 360 and had to send it back to Microsoft to let them fix those problems. That usually costs time, if not even money.

Fortunately, and because I was faced to a serious RRoD problem too, I searched for and found a Do-it-yourself Xbox Repair Guide that told me exactly how to fix my Xbox console on my own. It’s way too much to tell about here in that article, but in short it is a huge collection of quality video tutorials showing you step-by-step instructions on how to fix your Xbox. Sure the guide costs some bucks, but at least for me it had definitely paid off (hey, it’s only around $25).

I was probably totally cursed with bad luck since I faced 3 of such bad “general hardware failures” as they call it, 3 times that I couldn’t use my Xbox. The first time I sent it back for repair, there wasn’t any problem although it took them nearly 2 weeks to ship my Xbox back. The next weeks were just fine until the Red Ring of Death hit again. As already said, I bought the repair guide and successfully fixed my Xbox 2 times afterwards (yes, the problem occured again after some months).

The guide is really worth the money spent, it shows how to repair your Xbox by your own without having any deep knowledge about the underlying hardware. It’s simply to follow and easy to do. You can order it here, on that site you’ll although find way more detailed informations on that subject!

Ok, now my Xbox 360 is running fine again and I hope it will do for the next years to come!
